This project began like many of ours do — with potential. A spacious block, a thoughtfully designed floor plan, and the opportunity to create something truly special for the right buyer. We’d just listed the home with our friends at Platinum & Co. and were halfway through the build when the phone rang. A couple from Sydney had seen the listing and were ready to make the move.
They were searching for their coastal forever home — something fresh, functional, and close to family. Port Macquarie had always been on the cards, and the timing just felt right. There was one catch: they wanted to be in before Christmas.
It was November.
Now, we love a challenge. And we’re no strangers to tight timelines. But delivering a full custom build in time for the holidays? That takes serious coordination.
By the time the contracts were signed, framing was already complete and the roof was on. From there, it was about keeping momentum without missing a beat. The plastering went up, and with each coat of paint, the vision started to take shape. The kitchen install was a standout moment — clean lines, warm tones, and a butler’s pantry tucked just out of sight. It was the first time the space really started to feel like a home.
In the bathrooms, the tiling set the tone. We paired soft, neutral tiles with brushed gold fixtures from Nero Tapware to strike the balance between understated and elevated. Joinery was installed across the bedrooms, laundry, and hallway — simple, functional and designed for daily life.
Flooring rolled out not long after, bringing the whole interior together. Light hybrid boards helped reflect the natural light that pours in through the rear of the home. Outside, landscaping was underway while the final internal touches — lighting, mirrors, door hardware — were falling into place.
There’s something really rewarding about walking into a finished space, not because the job’s done but because it’s just beginning for someone else. What made this build especially memorable wasn’t just the outcome it was the relationship we built along the way.
Afternoons were often spent catching up with the new homeowners, walking the site, answering questions, sharing ideas. It wasn’t long before they got to know our kids, and our kids became regular visitors, quickly recognising the lolly jar that would be offered up with a smile the moment we walked through the door. It’s the kind of connection that goes well beyond a contract. And it’s what makes this work worth doing.
This home now stands as a reminder of what can happen when timing meets trust. It’s coastal living, delivered just in time for the holidays and built to feel like home from the very start.
